So imagine this, you have a business and have a product or service to SELL.
Yep that’s right, ultimately the main goal of any business is to make sales. There’s no getting around this. One way or another, products or services are bought and therefore, they MUST be sold. So with that in mind, how does that make you feel? Is it ‘icky’ or ‘sleazy’, like a used car salesman? Or are you comfortable with the idea of sales? Either way, if you have a business, it needs to happen and how you feel about sales will have a direct effect on the success of your business – fact!
So what’s my point here? Well, one of the biggest reasons that you are likely to not feel comfortable with sales, or having success from your business, is because you are not truly aligned with what your audience or prospects truly want. When you know and fully understand their needs, it’s then possible to see whether your product or service fulfils that need, and as such will add value to them. If so, there is no ‘icky’ feeling as you’re helping them. Unfortunately, things are most often approached from the other way around.
You have a product or service and then attempt to get people to like or want it, because it’s so mazing and groundbreaking! This is one of the biggest reasons why you burn through your list of friends and family and annoy them to the point of being ignored and even blocked. So what’s the solution, how can you turn things around?
Simple really, ASK THEM!!!! What a crazy thought…
Yep it really s that simple, yet it’s so often never done. If you are in business or building a business, reach out and connect with your audience. Build a normal human relationship and establish what their needs and pains are. This is the only real way to serve them properly and gain their trust. Once you’ve got some ideas that they want or what their pain points are, it’s then time to create content that feeds those needs, which will then catapult your authority status and their trust in you. Then and only then, you will have earned the right to sell them something and you’ll be amazed just how willing and eager they are to buy it.
I hope this has given you some food for thought on how you are approaching your business, and I’d love to hear your thoughts on it. Leave me a comment below…
